Reactions to China’s anti-subsidy probe into EU dairy imports By Reuters

BEIJING (Reuters) – China launched an anti-subsidy investigation into dairy imports from the European Union a day after the bloc revised its tariff plan for electric vehicles made in the Asian giant.

Wednesday’s probe, which targets cheese, milk and creams intended for human consumption, came after the EU amended proposed punitive tariffs on electric vehicle imports from China to 36.3% from an initial 37.6%. Beijing has asked Brussels to drop the tariffs.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF THE EUROPEAN UNION IN CHINA:

“Unfortunately, the use of trade defense instruments by a government is increasingly ostensibly in nature by the recipient government.

“Therefore, given that the European Commission has released the final findings of its investigation into China’s BEVs, China’s decision to launch an anti-subsidy investigation should not come as a surprise.

“The Chamber will monitor the investigation and hopes it will be conducted fairly and transparently. We expect our affected member companies to cooperate fully with the investigation.”
