Walmart is partnering with Burger King to offer discounts to Reuters members

(Reuters) – Walmart (NYSE: ) said on Thursday it has partnered with Restaurant Brands (NYSE: )’ Burger King to offer discounted meal benefits to its member customers, as the retail giant looks to make its service more attractive to better compete with Amazon. (NASDAQ: ) is the first.

Starting in September, Walmart members can enjoy discounts at Burger King, including 25 percent off any digital order every day, the company said.

The partnership also comes as retailers and fast-food chains roll out value offers to attract price-conscious customers as they struggle to boost demand.

The retailer’s subscription service Walmart Plus offers plans for $12.95 per month or a $98 annual plan, while its main competitor Amazon Prime’s subscription costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year in the United States.

Amazon said in May that its US customers could order from online delivery firm Grubhub directly on its shopping app and website, expanding an offer that already gives its Prime members free access to Grubhub+ membership.

Walmart Plus members will be able to take advantage of the offer at Burger King locations nationwide by placing orders on the restaurant chain’s app or website, the retailer added.
