Delta Air COO Mike Spanos will leave the carrier, WSJ reports from Reuters

(Reuters) – Delta Air Chief Operating Officer Mike Spanos will leave the airline next month to take a new role at another company, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing a memo to employees.

The airline’s CEO, Ed Bastian, said Spanos approached him earlier this summer to say he was considering other opportunities, the report said.

The departure of Delta’s chief operating officer comes weeks after the airline canceled thousands of flights due to a worldwide cyber outage.

Delta did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
