(Reuters) – Sterling rose to a more than two-year high against the dollar on Friday as investors took comfort in signs of strength in the British economy at a time when the United States is expected to soon engage in a range of interest rates. cuts.

The British pound rose 0.48% to $1.3160, its highest level since April 2022. It surpassed a 13-month high of $1.3144.

The rise in sterling marks a turnaround for a currency that in 2022 fell to record lows following Britain’s mini-budget crisis.
