‘What a player’… Pundit says the unstoppable star is the ‘epitome’ of a Manchester United footballer

Manchester United have endured a really difficult season that hasn’t quite gone as expected.

That’s why you have to really appreciate the good times. And after some crushing lows this season, we’ll leave Old Trafford with a 3-2 win over Newcastle.

This was only Manchester United’s second win in 10 league games. It’s a poor run but maybe we can build a bit of momentum before the FA Cup final.

It was Kobbie Mainoo who started the scoring with a cool low finish after Amad found him unmarked near the penalty spot.

Kobbie Mainoo’s Super Season

Kobbie Mainoo made his Manchester United debut last year but it was 2023/24 when he became a first-team regular.

His goal was his fourth of the season and third in the Premier League, following strikes against Wolves and Liverpool.

Mainoo was excellent throughout the game, defying suggestions that he needed rest.

The teenager’s performance was praised on MUTV, with former defender David May speaking glowingly of his contribution.

He said: “Kobbie Mainoo, what a player. I’ll tell you what. He is the absolute epitome of a Manchester United player, absolutely brilliant.”

He added: “He’s a massive, massive, integral part of his team now, unbelievable.”

Kobbie Mainoo is the gem of Manchester United

Kobbie Mainoo has had an unstoppable rise this season, establishing himself as a Manchester United regular and making his England debut.

The teenager has now made 30 appearances this season, 27 of which have been starts, all the more impressive considering he did not play until November due to pre-season injury.

Just two years ago, Mainoo won the FA Youth Cup with Manchester United’s under-18s alongside Alejandro Garnacho.

Last year, the under-18s won three trophies, offering hope that more youngsters will follow him into the first team.

Keep an eye on Louis Jackson, the centre-back who was part of Mainoo’s Youth Cup-winning side, and during the last run of under-18 silverware.
