Shell to shut down portions of Zydeco oil pipeline off Louisiana By Reuters

HOUSTON (Reuters) – Oil company Shell ( LON: ) said on Monday it plans to shut down various portions of its Zydeco pipeline system for maintenance for three to four days starting Sept. 24.

The Zydeco pipeline system, which stretches over 350 miles and has a main capacity of approximately 375,000 barrels per day, has four segments and carries crude oil from Houston, Texas to St. James, Louisiana.

The pipeline closure will reduce the amount of light crude oil supplied to Louisiana, where it will become part of the Light Louisiana Sweet blend.

The Light Louisiana Sweet premium against US West Texas Intermediate crude has remained largely flat in recent days. It was trading at a premium of about $1.38 a barrel by Friday.
