Arne Slot makes ‘overwhelmed’ admission ahead of Liverpool confirmation

Arne Slot doesn’t think managing Liverpool will be any harder than his current role with Feyenoord.

The Reds have reached an agreement with the Eredivisie side for the 45-year-old to succeed Jurgen Klopp as manager, although his appointment has yet to be officially confirmed. However, Slot has previously played down any concerns about the delay, insisting his switch will be completed sooner rather than later.

Liverpool will bid an emotional farewell to Klopp when they take charge of their final game at home to Wolves on Sunday after a highly successful nine-year reign at Anfield. During his time with the Reds, he led his side to Premier League, Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup glory, while lifting two League Cups, an FA Cup and the European Super Cup.

Meanwhile, Slot is set to oversee his final game in charge of Feyenoord this weekend when the Dutch side host Excelsior. In his three years at the club, he lifted both the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup.

Neither Liverpool nor Feyenoord have anything going into the final games of the season, with third and second places already secured – along with Champions League qualification – leaving both clubs free to focus on saying goodbye to their departed managers.

Slot is, of course, a left-back fixture at Anfield, having never been successful outside of the Netherlands, with Liverpool’s move for the Dutchman catching onlookers by surprise last month.
