‘My wife has terrible breath – brutal 14-word confession left her sulking for days’

Telling someone you smell is never an easy thing to do – let alone if it’s your partner!

But one man decided to take an honest approach by having an honest confession with his wife. Apparently his wife “developed horrible breath” about a year ago and it’s so bad it “makes him want to throw up.”

He was concerned about the issue – especially given that she “brushes her teeth every morning and night”. But she thinks it’s because she “has cavities.”

On Reddit, he wrote: “Sometimes I’m woken up by nothing more than her breathing in front of me. Every time I bring (the dentist) she gets defensive and says we don’t have money or we don’t have insurance. …

“I was at a school function for my daughter earlier today and while I was waiting in line she was talking to my face and I felt a movement of her sulfuric breath. I made a face and backed away from her. angry and wouldn’t talk to me until we sat down to eat.

“While we were eating, she said I was a jerk for making that face. To which I replied, in a whisper no one else could hear, “I wasn’t a jerk. It was just my reaction. You have cavities that need to be filled before your teeth rot.”

Unfortunately, this 14-word confession went down like a lead balloon. And the wife decided to give him the silent treatment.

The Redditor continued: “I said I was sorry, but that didn’t change the fact that she needed to go to the dentist. She replied, “You embarrassed me in front of everyone. We don’t have money or insurance and I don’t have don’t give a damn, you’re just exaggerating to make me feel bad in front of everyone.”

People were quick to voice their opinions on the marital spat on Reddit — and many were on the husband’s side.

One wrote: “Her fears and embarrassment are understandable but no excuse. Is it like this with other doctors and other appointments? If not, point out to her that going to the dentist is not a matter of aesthetics or good-smelling breath, it’s a matter of health, and the longer she puts it off, the more expensive and irreversible it will be.

And another agreed: “The longer she waits, the more likely she is to have complications. Please, please urge her to face her fears and deal with this before she needs root canals.’
