US stocks up at close; The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.02% by Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close on the NYSE, the index rose 0.02% to hit a new all-time high, while the benchmark gained 0.16% and the index rose 0.17%.

The best performers of the session on the were NIKE Inc (NYSE: ), which rose 1.20% or 1.01 points to trade at 85.29 at the close. Meanwhile, Honeywell International Inc (NASDAQ: ) added 1.11% or 2.26 points to end at 206.11 and Visa Inc Class A (NYSE: ) was up 0.94% or 2.51 points to trade at 270.72 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: ), which declined 1.36% or 2.38 points to trade at 173.12 at the close. Chevron Corp (NYSE: ) declined 1.04% or 1.55 points to end at 146.95 and Walt Disney Company (NYSE: ) declined 0.96% or 0.88 points to 90.90.

The best performers on the S&P 500 were ResMed Inc (NYSE: ) which rose 7.26% to 242.25, Insulet Corporation (NASDAQ: ) which rose 6.58% to 192.58 and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (NYSE: ), which gained 4.30% to close at 169.02.

The worst performers were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ: ), which fell 8.96% to 9.45 in late trade, Paramount Global Class B (NASDAQ: ), which lost 7.15% to settle at 10.52 and Martin Marietta Materials Inc (NYSE: ) which fell 4.58% to 518.57 at the close.

Top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were VOXX International Corporation (NASDAQ: ) which rose 68.07% to 4.79, Addex Therapeutics Ltd (NASDAQ: ) which rose 54.61% to settle at 11 .58 and Ensysce Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ: ) which gained 49%. to close at 0.64.

The worst performers were COSCIENS Biopharma Inc (NASDAQ: ), which fell 32.42% to 3.96 in late trade. Jiuzi Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: ) which lost 28.83% to settle at 1.58 and Invivyd Inc (NASDAQ: ) which declined 28.67% to 0.92 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1652 to 1163, and 103 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq, 2,090 declined and 1,209 advanced, while 143 ended unchanged.

Shares of ResMed Inc (NYSE: ) rose to 52-week highs; up 7.26% or 16.39 to 242.25. Shares of Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ: ) fell to 5-year lows; down 8.96% or 0.93 to 9.45. Shares of COSCIENS Biopharma Inc (NASDAQ: ) fell to 5-year lows; down 32.42% or 1.90 to 3.96. Shares of Jiuzi Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: ) fell to all-time lows; losing 28.83% or 0.64 to 1.58.

Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.19 percent, or 4.85, to $2,560.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude for October delivery fell 2.01%, or 1.56, to $75.86 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.73% or 1.39, up to $78.97 per barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.21% to 1.12, while USD/JPY fell 0.38% to 143.98.

US dollar index futures fell 0.27% to 100.46.
