Leeds United star Charlie Cresswell’s Land Rover crashed into a police car outside the stadium ahead of the team’s must-win semi-final play-off.

A LEEDS United footballer’s Land Rover crashed into a police car outside the club’s stadium – ahead of the team’s play-off semi-final tonight.

The accident happened as the players were due to report to Elland Road this morning ahead of their Championship Two clash with Norwich City.

Shocking footage shows a Land Rover Defender, belonging to defender Charlie Cresswell, and a badly damaged West Yorkshire Police patrol car.

It is not known whether England Under-21 star Cresswell, 21, was driving the £60,000 4×4 or how the collision happened.

Emergency services attended the smash, near the club’s ticket office on Elland Road, which happened just before 10.15am this morning.

A police officer suffered minor injuries, West Yorkshire Police said.

“One officer received medical treatment for minor injuries. “No other injuries were reported.”

Police said inquiries were “ongoing” into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Debris from the crash could be seen strewn across the road outside the West Stand.

Leeds United face their biggest game of the season tonight in the Championship play-offs.

The winner of tonight’s 8pm match with Norwich City will head to Wembley to fight for a place in the Premier League. They will face either Southampton or West Bromwich Albion.

Preston-born Cresswell has been a regular substitute for Daniel Farke’s side, but minutes on the pitch have been hard to come by.

The footballer was part of the England Under-21 squad that won the European Under-21 Championship in 2023.

Leeds United have been asked to comment.
