Lambeth Country Show celebrates 50 years of top class musical entertainment – South London News

An unmissable lineup full of jazz beats, Cuban mixes, Afrobeats and Reggae is set for a very special community festival this June.

The Lambeth Country Show is an annual free community event which has been run by Lambeth council since 1974.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year on June 8-9, Lambeth Country Show will transform Brockwell Park in Dulwich Road into a hub of community activity with everything from flower and fruit displays to farm animals and justifications.

The weekend hosts over 200 traders and exhibitors including street food from around the world, local crafts, health and wellness and more.

A rich heritage of local charities and community groups also have a presence at the show and help celebrate the diversity that Lambeth has to offer.

Half of the park will be dedicated to musical entertainment, with a line-up of artists hand-picked by Culture Promotions.

Culture Promotions have been producing the main stage for almost 20 years and are sure to create an eclectic and exciting mix of music for Saturday and a range of pure roots cultural reggae for Roots Day on Sunday.

Saturday 8th June will feature the Gnawa Blues All Stars, who blend blues, jazz, reggae and afrobeats, the versatile Brixton Chamber Orchestra and Children of Zeus made up of two of Manchester’s most respected artists, Konny Kon and Tyler Daley.

With only a short break in between to catch our breath, the second day of the festival jumps straight into Roots Rock Reggae all afternoon in a Roots Day celebration.

Acts include Top Cats with Youth Sayers, Female Roll Call with GeeWhiz Band, David ‘Ram Jam’ Rodigan and Luciano – live and direct from Jamaica.

With around 120,000 people attending across the weekend, the show is one of the UK’s biggest free family festivals.
