Apple reportedly in talks to invest in OpenAI: WSJ By Investing.com

Investing.com — Apple is in talks to invest in OpenAI as the tech giant tries to make ground in the artificial intelligence race, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Apple’s investment is part of OpenAI’s new funding round, led by venture capital firm Thrive Capital. Microsoft (NASDAQ: ), which already owns a 49% stake in OpenAI, is set to join the funding round.

Information on how much Apple or Microsoft would invest in OpenAI’s funding round was not immediately available, the Journal reported.

Apple’s talks to invest in OpenAI come after, at its developer conference in June, the company unveiled its “Apple Intelligence” AI platform that would feature a new version of Siri powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT generative AI model.

Apple Inc (NASDAQ: ) rose more than 2% in recent trading.
