Trump slams Zuckerberg in upcoming book

Mark Zuckerberg reportedly has a cameo in Donald Trump’s upcoming photo book — but the former president isn’t casting the Facebook co-founder in a positive light.

The book “Save America” is set to hit shelves on Tuesday and is filled with photos from Trump’s first term. In it, Trump included an undated picture of himself and the Meta CEO along with a few choice words, Politico reported.

“Bringing his very nice wife to dinners, being as nice as anyone could be, while always plotting to install shameful lockboxes in a true conspiracy against the president,” Trump wrote, according to the news outlet.

It’s not clear when Trump wrote the caption, though it appears to allude to a $420 million contribution Zuckerberg and his wife made to fund 2020 election infrastructure — a move that has previously drawn Trump’s ire .

In a letter to Republican Rep. Jim Jordan this week, Zuckerberg said he would not donate to support election infrastructure after Republicans argued the money benefited Democrats. While the claims are unfounded, Zuckerberg said he was careful not to appear partisan.

“Despite the analysis I’ve seen to the contrary, I know some people believe this activity has benefited one party at the expense of the other,” Zuckerberg wrote. “My goal is to be neutral and not play a role one way or the other — or even appear to play a role. So I don’t intend to make a similar contribution this cycle.”

Trump has also launched tirades about Zuckerberg.

He frequently criticized Zuckerberg and Meta for suspending his account over remarks that fueled the Capitol insurrection. Meta said last year that it would restore its Facebook and Instagram accounts with “new railings,” though removed those additional restrictions last month.

In July, he threatened to jail “election fraud” by dropping Zuckerberg’s name if he is elected in November.

Politico said that in the text accompanying the photo of Zuckerberg, Trump laments the decision regarding his Facebook account and says that “if he does anything illegal this time he will spend the rest of his life in prison.”

Zuckerberg last month described Trump’s reaction to being shot during a rally in Pennsylvania as “stupid,” but added that he would not endorse any presidential candidate this year.

Meta and the Trump campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
