Tracks provides alternative music-based services for secondary-aged children on free school meals. Students have access to a full suite of recording studios, giving them the opportunity to learn new skills in songwriting, production, rapping, singing and more.

Ed also took part in a special performance with a number of young musicians who were delighted to have the opportunity to perform alongside the Shape of You star. He also gave the students industry advice and answered a number of questions they had.

They spoke of the great work going on in Sheffield, despite the significant challenges in music education due to funding cuts to public services.

Speaking about the visit, Ian Naylor, Head of Music Education Sheffield at Sheffield City Council, said: “Sheffield has a rich musical heritage and is committed to developing homegrown talent and seeing our creative industries thrive. It was a pleasure to host Ed today and see firsthand his commitment to using his global platform to advocate for the importance of music education.
