Former Rice guard Cameron Sheffield is transferring to Duke men’s basketball

Duke is putting the final pieces together for its new-look 2024-2025 roster.

Cameron Sheffield, a guard from Rice, announced his May 16 commitment to the Blue Devils Thursday afternoon via the X.

Sheffield is a 6-foot-6 wing who played three seasons for the Owls before redshirting last season due to a foot injury. He was a consistent starter in 2022-23, primarily a 3-point threat, shooting 37.3 percent from behind the arc.

He averaged 7.6 points per game that season, with a career high of 15 twice. Despite his size, Sheffield was second on his team with 6.1 rebounds per game. He was also a force defensively, drawing 27 carries.

The Alpharetta, Ga., native is head coach Jon Scheyer’s fourth transfer prospect this cycle, following Mason Gillis, Maliq Brown and Sion James.

Sheffield is a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining.
