Training led by drag queens to kick off Pride month in Bristol

Bristol will kick off Pride month with a bang this year as drag queens lead a workout to mark the start of the celebrations. Taking place at Lost Horizon on June 1st, the Drag Queen Workout will be headlined by two drag queens, UGLY and Miss Venus Wailer, who have both performed internationally and even taken the stage at Love Saves the Day.

Costing £11.55 per person, the event will run for two hours from 10am to 12pm, with last entry at 10pm. On the Eventbrite website, the event description reads: “We’re joining forces with our dynamic duo, UGLY & Venus, for a mix of fitness, disco and pure fabulousness. This is a unique, high-energy session where you’ll strike a pose, learn how to stretch like a queen and laugh until morning.”

But the fun doesn’t stop there, after you’ve finished training, everyone will have a chance to take part in their “legendary disco queen catwalk”. So you can keep your stuff while laughing with your friends.

Speaking to the BBC Venus, who is originally from Venezuela, told why training is an amazing thing to be a part of. She said: “We feel we have spread the joy of exploration through the workouts. And the people who join us are great. They allow us to make them laugh, move with us, release some stress and boost their self-esteem; that’s what love is all about.”
