A man has been jailed after being found guilty of dangerous driving.

On the afternoon of 3 August 2022, PC Craig Stead of Warwickshire Police’s Operations Patrol Unit was on patrol in a marked police car when he rear-ended a car driven by Samir Abdulrahman in Lillington Road, Leamington .

Seeing the police behind him, Abdulrahman sped away from the officers, overtaking other cars and running a red light.

The police chase ended when his car was stopped by a police officer on the A45 in Coventry.

After the stop, the police confiscated a knife.

At Warwick Crown Court on Tuesday (May 14), Abdulrahman, 21, of Hornsey Close, Coventry, was jailed for three months after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

He was found guilty of possessing a knife in a public place. He was also banned from driving for 20 months.

PC Stead said: “The driving style displayed by Abdulrahman shows why we proactively police our roads. His driving put other road users and pedestrians at risk and he is behind bars.”
