Coventry City boss Mark Robins is on Burnley’s radar

Coventry City boss Mark Robins is on Burnley’s list of potential replacements for Vincent Kompany. reporter Sacha Tavolieri said on X.

Coventry City may have missed out on the play-offs this season, but once again manager Robins’ work has drawn widespread praise.

After a poor start to the season following a busy summer transfer window, the long-serving boss has steered the Sky Blues back into the top six while maintaining a remarkable FA Cup run.

The certain run through England’s most prestigious competition ended only in the semi-finals at the hands of Manchester United, who survived a stunning comeback and a VAR decision to emerge victorious.

Robins’ impressive work has seen him linked with the newly vacant Hull City job recently, but the Tigers have reportedly set their sights on German Tim Walter as their replacement for Liam Rosenior.

Now, however, it is claimed there is further interest in the Coventry boss.

Writing on X, Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri claims relegated Premier League side Burnley have the Robins on their radar should Vincent Kompany be prized away from Turf Moor. The Belgium and Manchester City legend is on Brighton’s mind as they weigh up suitors for wanted Roberto De Zerbi.

Inevitable interest?

Managers are always recognized for their good work and Robins’ time at Coventry City was a huge success. Especially in recent years, he has been able to take them to another level as they fight for a place back in the Premier League.

As such, it’s no surprise that clubs like Burnley are taking note of his work.

As the Clarets head towards the Championship, they are a club with ambitious plans for the future and a forward-thinking manager must be at the forefront of this. If Kompany moves on, Robins will fit that profile.

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

Holding Robins

Coventry City have been interested in star men before, and now Robins is attracting admiring glances, it will be intriguing to see how the matter plays out.

The 54-year-old is under contract with the club until 2027, so you’d think any club keen to secure his services would have to pay a hefty fee to get a deal over the line.

Even then, clubs could have a tough task on their hands to tempt him away from the club. After so long at Coventry City, the Robins are very invested in their ambitions to return to the Premier League and you have to feel that an offer from a Championship rival would not be enough to put the Sky Blues behind them.

Time will tell if anything comes of the links, with Burnley keeping their options open.
