Why you could see Jamie Carragher in Stanley Park this weekend

Football pundit Jamie Carragher and other Liverpool FC stars will be at Stanley Park this weekend.

The former Bootle defender will be joined by the likes of Alan Kennedy and Sammy Lee as he pays tribute to the 97 football fans who lost their lives at Hillsborough on April 15, 1989.

They will be at the 10th staging of the Run For The 97 community event, which will take place on Saturday, May 18.

The event, first held in 2015, is an inclusive friendly event to celebrate and honor those affected by the Hillsborough disaster, including the families and survivors – who have since fought tirelessly for justice with the utmost dignity and continues to campaign for a Hillsborough Act.

This year marked the 35th anniversary of the disaster and almost 1,500 participants have already signed up to commemorate those who died.

BTR Liverpool Race Director Alan Rothwell said: “Since the first Run For The 97 in 2015, the event has continued to be uplifting, emotional and means so much to people. It has truly become a strong community legacy. It’s a very special date on the calendar when we come together and run to remember The 97.
