Residents said to close the windows after the fire

Police have advised residents to close their windows after a fire broke out in a commercial building.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said it was alerted to the fire near Penryn at around 00:08 BST on Thursday.

Devon and Cornwall Police were also in attendance and said there was “a significant amount of smoke”.

The fire service said roads in the Ponsharden area will be closed until further notice.

Several crews were called to the fire, the firemen said.

Firefighters will remain on scene to monitor hot spots.
