The biggest pothole in Britain is the length of a double-decker bus

David Bennett, 76, has lived in the area for 10 years but says the ever-growing pothole on Warrens Lane is making life a misery.

He said: “It’s got to be one of the biggest ones around,” adding that the council’s efforts to repair the road with cold tar have been unsuccessful.

“When I use cold tar, it’s not a permanent solution because it keeps splitting,” he said. “Then the rain started and the frost followed. The hole remained under water for seven months.

“Normally dog walkers, joggers, cyclists would use that road to get to the bus, but they couldn’t use it.”

Mr Bennet, a retired corporate communications worker, added: “If you drive a small car through there, you’re going to ground it.”
