Senior management, most board members at US Steel will be American citizens, Nippon Steel says by Reuters

TOKYO (Reuters) – Japan’s biggest steelmaker Nippon Steel, which is trying to buy U.S. Steel, said on Wednesday that if the acquisition went ahead, top management as well as a majority of the U.S. company’s board would be US citizens.

US Steel’s board will also include three independent directors who are US citizens, the Japanese company said in a statement.

The announcement follows Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris echoing President Joe Biden’s concern about Nippon Steel’s purchase of US Steel.
