Japan shares fall at the close; The Nikkei 225 was down 4.35% by Investing.com

Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, it was down 4.35%.

The best performers of the session on the were Bandai Namco Holdings Inc (TYO: ), which rose 3.08% or 96.00 points to trade at 3,210.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Nitori Holdings Co Ltd (TYO:) added 2.56% or 550.00 points to end at 22,000.00 and Aeon Co., Ltd. (TYO: ) was up 1.89% or 69.00 points to trade at 3,719.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO: ), which decreased 9.19% or 335.00 points to trade at 3,312.00 at the close. Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO: ) declined 8.92% or 947.00 points to end at 9,668.00 and Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO:) traded down 8.55% or 2,150.00 points to 22,995.00.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3,558 to 228, while 86 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.48%, or 0.34, at $70.00 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodity trading, Brent crude for November delivery was down 0.39%, or 0.29, at $73.46 a barrel, while December gold futures were down 0.12 % or 3.05, to $2,519.95 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.11% at 145.31, while EUR/JPY was down 0.09% at 160.53.

US dollar index futures fell 0.11% to 101.65.
