Kansas woman sentenced to probation for insurance fraud

Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt announced that an Arkansas City woman has been sentenced to 18 months of probation for insurance fraud.

Misty Jane Dial, 33, pleaded guilty in Cowley-Arkansas City District Court on July 9 to one count of attempted insurance fraud and one count of providing false information.

After being involved in an accident, Dial submitted fraudulent documentation to her insurance company to obtain funds for medical care and lost wages that she had not actually received or lost. She was sentenced Aug. 27 to 18 months of probation, with 10 months in jail to be served if her probation is violated. Dial was also fined $500.
