The Macallan is releasing a single malt that will cost $190,000

Scotch lovers know that a high-end single malt will cost them, but even the savviest connoisseur might wince when they see the price of a new offering from The Macallan.

The distiller that has a history of high-priced scotches may have outdone itself this time with the introduction of Time:Space, which has a suggested retail price of $190,000.

The whiskey comes in a two-chambered container that includes both the first release from the brand’s new distillery and an 84-year-old offering, which is the oldest whiskey ever released by the company.

Macallan says only 200 bottles will be created, one for each year of the company’s history – and you’ll need an invitation to buy one, which can be obtained by contacting the company’s customer service department. (This will still bring in $38 million.)

The mature single malt comes from two casks that have been seasoned with sherry and matured in Speyside, Scotland, with an ABV of 43.6%. The other single malt offering is a 2018 vintage and meant to look to the future of the brand.

“As a Whiskey Mastery team, our roles are unique in that we get to travel through time – selecting the whiskey of the past, created by our predecessors, while laying casks for future generations of whiskey makers and drinkers,” Kirsteen Campbell said. master whiskey maker for The Macallan, in a statement. “To find, taste and select whiskey created over eight decades ago is an exceptionally rare opportunity in a whiskey maker’s life and one I will treasure.”

A second high-end offering called Time: Space Mastery will combine 14 types of barrels and will be sold at select retail stores. It will be priced at $1,400.
