Stellantis will stop production of the two best-selling Jeep models in the US, WSJ By Reuters reports

(Reuters) – Jeep parent Stellantis (NYSE: ) is taking a break from producing two of its best-selling U.S. models, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

Factories temporarily stopped making Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee SUVs in the past week, the report added, citing people familiar with the matter.

Stellantis did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Stellantis confirmed “production adjustments” at two Detroit assembly plants that make the Grand Cherokee and another plant in Toledo, Ohio, where the Wrangler is made, in a statement to the Journal.

On Tuesday, the automaker named Bob Broderdorf, who was senior vice president of operations for the Ram brand and head of sales operations at Dodge, as head of Jeep North America.

In July, the US auto safety regulator opened a recall inquiry for 94,275 Jeep Wrangler 4xe hybrid SUVs manufactured between 2021 and 2024.
