Lambeth woman ambushed by man on bike who grabs mobile phone and runs off

A man on a bike ambushed a woman walking alone in Lambeth and took her mobile phone before making off.

The victim was walking along Kennington Park Road, near the junction with Othello Close, when the thief struck.

The man was described as black, between 25 and 35 years old and of a large build with short, cropped hair.

He is believed to be wearing a baggy T-shirt and dark trousers and was riding a racing bike with silver handlebars.

He ran along the pavement before turning left near the entrance to Kennington tube station on Braganza Street after the 10.50pm robbery on July 12.

The victim was not injured and no arrests have been made.

Police have released an image of a man they would like help identifying as part of their investigation.

DC John Edwards, from Lambeth Local Policing Team, said: “We have carried out a number of inquiries and are now appealing for the public’s help in naming this man. I would urge anyone who recognizes him to contact us immediately.”
