Pennsylvania, Arizona and Texas are receiving US funding for Ukraine’s weapons, the Pentagon says from Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Pennsylvania, Arizona and Texas are among the U.S. states receiving the most funding and investment to arm Ukraine in its fight against Russia, a breakdown of Pentagon spending showed on Friday.

Pennsylvania, a swing state in the Nov. 5 presidential election, received the most of any state with $2.52 billion in spending and investment to build weapons and ammunition in support of Ukraine’s effort to repel a Russian invasion, according to Pentagon documents published on Friday.

Ten months ago, the Biden administration first began circulating statewide data on Capitol Hill to garner more support from Republicans.

Since last year, the Biden administration has emphasized that many of the weapons sent to Kiev will be replaced by billions in new contracts won by American companies that employ American workers.

Companies such as Arizona-based Raytheon’s RTX (NYSE: ), which makes Patriot missile systems, and General Dynamics (NYSE: ), which makes artillery shells that are manufactured in several states, including Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas, have filed billions of contracts.

Arizona saw $2.02 billion in Ukraine-related spending and investment, while Texas had $1.85 billion.

Friday’s documents provided a state-by-state breakdown of the $41.7 billion in procurement, investment and replacement spending for all types of systems in more than 35 states to support Ukraine.
