Dell, Palantir and Erie Indemnity to Join S&P 500 By Reuters

(Reuters) – S&P Dow Jones Indices said on Friday that server maker Dell Technologies (NYSE: ), data analytics firm Palantir Technologies (NYSE: ) and property and casualty insurer Erie Indemnity will join the benchmark before the market to open on September 23.

Shares of Palantir rose nearly 8 percent in extended trading, while those of Dell and Erie rose 6 percent and 3 percent, respectively.

The three companies will replace American Airlines (NASDAQ: ) Group, online marketplace Etsy (NASDAQ: ) and diagnostics company Bio-Rad Laboratories (NYSE: ) in the index.

Shares of American Airlines fell 0.7 percent, while those of Bio-Rad Laboratories and Etsy fell about 1 percent.
