UK weather maps show when the first 30C day of the year will roast Britain

UK weather maps show when the first 30C day of the year will scorch Britain. The UK is set to sizzle with rising temperatures as we head into May and into the sixth month of the year, June, and the first full month of summer proper.

BBC Breakfast forecaster Carol Kirkwood said temperatures will start to rise with “sunny spells and sunshine” on Sunday 19 May. And data projected by OpenWeatherMap shows temperatures skyrocketed in the last 12 days of May.

Exacta weather forecaster James Madden told the Daily Star: “Some of the main third party computer models are now becoming more popular as a result of high pressure building up on our shores over the next week.

“This is likely to bring at least a few more days of warm to hot weather and could initially see temperatures rise to mid-20s and 30 degrees or more cannot be completely ruled out in places the hottest and for the first time this year.”

Tomorrow will be cloudy and showery in southern England, heavy at times with a risk of thunder. Mist and fog will clear further north to leave sunny spells and variable cloud, the BBC Weather team said.

The outlook for the weekend, which runs from Sunday to Tuesday next week, also hints at what the last two weeks of May have in store. The Beeb says: “There will be cloud and a few light showers in Scotland on Sunday. Drier elsewhere with sunny spells and patchy cloud for most.

“Weird shower on the south coast in the afternoon. Clear fog will clear on Monday to leave sunny spells in many areas. A few showers in the northwest later. Tuesday will be sunny and showery in the north. Sunny at first in south, unsettled later”.
