Leeds United head to Wembley next weekend for the Championship play-off final after a 4-0 decimation of Norwich City on Thursday night.

The play-off semi-finals were well set for both Leeds and Norwich City this week after a 0-0 draw at Carrow Road on Sunday, leaving it a one-and-done at Elland Road.

Leeds were hammered for this game and it looked like they completely eliminated Norwich to book a place at Wembley for next weekend.

Leeds 4-0 Norwich: The Whites beat the Canaries with a resounding performance

On seven minutes, Leeds headed for the play-off final when Ilia Gruev saw Angus Gunn out of position on goal from a long-range free-kick, sending his effort into the near post for 1-0.

The blistering first half continued as Joel Piroe headed in a superb Willy Gnonto cross to make it 2-0 and Georginio Rutter put the score beyond doubt before the break when he fell to a scrum in the penalty area and hit the bar transverse.

Between the second and third goals was a game-winning stop from Illan Meslier, however, who denied Josh Sargent’s chip as it went clean, stretched to force the American to lift the ball forward to escape with a big slap – a moment celebrated just as much as a goal.

The second half was more total control from the home side and the fourth came to dispel any lingering doubts as Crysencio Summerville slotted in from Junior Firpo’s lay-off.

Joel Robles reacts to the Leeds triumph

The reaction after the game was as brilliant as you’d imagine, whether it was from the home fans or those watching.

Joel Robles joined Simon Grayson to react to Leeds’ post-match Instagram post:

Huge win and performance from Leeds to set up a promotion clash

What a performance.

Farke set Leeds up perfectly to completely dominate Norwich everyone and every player did their part to execute the plan.

We took our chances when they came and blew them, in perfect fashion to put us in good shape for Wembley.

It will be 40,000 in white next Sunday where we could be back in the Premier League and if we play like we did last night we could beat anyone we face.
