Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at Sea Paradise adds longer itineraries

When Margaritaville at Sea (MAS) took over Paradise from its former owner, the cruise ship and a sister ship were running 2-day cruises from West Palm Beach. The ships stopped in Freeport and were meant to be a quick and cheap getaway.

The 2 day trip was meant to give Jimmy Buffett fans (and others) a chance to take a mini vacation of sorts. It was a good idea, and the starting price of $99 for a double-occupancy cabin was attractive to many people.

The problem is, getting on and off a cruise ship for a two-day cruise was a lot of work for less than 48 hours of vacation time. MAS has partially addressed this by adding a second ship, the Islander, that operates 4-, 5-, and 7-day trips from Tampa.

That ship, which began sailing in June, debuted to near-unanimously positive reviews. Longer sailings were cited by many as a positive. Now MAS has added longer sailings on Paradise.

MAS Paradise adds 3 and 4 day trips

MAS shared that they will be adding 3-night weekends with the Paradise sailing from West Palm Beach.

“Departing on Friday and returning on Monday morning, these extended weekend getaways offer the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Whether you’re soaking up the sun, sipping a margarita, or engaging in themed nighttime activities, this extra day at sea is your ticket to paradise,” according to a press release.

These cruises are generally much cheaper than the 3-day sailings offered by Royal Caribbean and Carnival ships, albeit on a much older ship. Royal Caribbean actually uses its newest Oasis-class ship, Utopia of the Seas, to sail weekends from Port Canaveral.

The cruise line has also added 4-night voyages on Paradise, which will include a stop at a very Buffett-friendly port.

“On this floating island vacation, guests can soak up the sun and enjoy a wide variety of onboard entertainment, relax with colorful characters in Key West, and then relax on the white sand beaches or swim in the clean waters of Grand Bahama Island”, MAS. shared.

Paradise offers “endless entertainment, including two Stars on the Water shows – Caribbean Heat and Radio Margaritaville: Live! At Sea. Multiple dining venues offer a variety of cuisines, while bars and lounges offer round-the-clock excitement along with premium cocktails.” according to the cruise line. The ship also has St. Somewhere Spa, Fins Up! The fitness center, Fin City Arcade, kids’ clubs and renovated play areas, the action-packed Margaritaville Casino, pools, hot tubs and plenty of quiet spaces to soak up the Caribbean sun.”
