Jupiter Asset Management and Swisscanto are preparing their respective exchange-traded fund launches, regulatory filings show.

UK-listed Jupiter plans to launch an actively managed global government bond product, which would make it the latest in a growing number of asset managers to enter the European active ETF space.

It has registered Jupiter Global Government Bond Active Ucits ETF with the Central Bank of Ireland, according to a register of legal entities.

The fund will be part of the Icav umbrella structure of HanETF.

Jupiter confirmed it was “exploring active ETFs as a way to expand our appeal to clients,” but declined to comment further.

In June, Mathias Müller, co-head of Jupiter’s client group in Frankfurt, revealed that the asset manager was evaluating whether to launch active ETFs.

“We want to absolutely repackage our strategies as other vehicles such as active ETFs,” he told industry publication Fonds Professionell, adding that the structure would allow the company to reach new “target audiences.”

Meanwhile, Swisscanto has registered the Swisscanto (IE) ESGeneration ETF Icav with the Central Bank of Ireland, regulatory filings show.

The asset management division of Swiss lender Zürcher Kantonalbank declined to comment.

Swisscanto currently does not manage any UCITS ETFs, but offers a €14.6 billion range of four exchange-traded products based in Switzerland that invest in precious metals.

The ZKB Gold ETF alone has almost EUR 12 billion in assets under management.

The firm also offers a wide range of “responsible” index funds covering Swiss, global and emerging market equities, as well as Swiss and global corporate bonds.

Swisscanto has been developing its range of sustainable index funds since 2013 and “continually adding new products since then”, according to the company’s website.
