Bristol Airport is offering free flights to celebrate the milestone

Bristol Airport has offered free flights to mark a first in its history. The airport saw 10 million passengers (over a twelve-month period) travel through the terminal for the first time in its history.

To celebrate reaching this major milestone, 10 lucky customers were selected at random and received gifts of round-trip airline tickets, retail vouchers, catering vouchers and other gifts. Bristol Airport currently offers flights to over 120 direct destinations in 31 countries; in addition to offering daily hub services to Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Dublin and Paris, connecting to hundreds of destinations around the world.

A major transformation program has already begun, with £400m of investment in the airport over the next five years. Projects include new state-of-the-art security screening equipment, renovation of the Air Traffic Control Tower, terminal improvements, catering and retail improvements.

The development will include two new Executive Lounges, with one lounge available to customers from December 2024. Thirty-eight catering and retail outlets are either being created or enhanced, further expanding the choice and selection available to customers while is at the airport.

Dave Lees, CEO, Bristol Airport, said: “It is exciting to mark these milestones with customers and colleagues as they demonstrate how much progress has been made in our transformation programme. We hope this gives our customers an appreciation of how soon they will be able to start using these new state-of-the-art facilities.

“Over £400 million is being invested in the airport’s facilities, which will be transformative, not just in terms of the buildings created, but also the experience we will be able to offer to customers, airlines and business partners. We continue to make a major contribution to skills and employment in the region by recruiting local people for local jobs and providing apprenticeship opportunities in the fifty separate businesses we have on site.”

The transformation of Bristol Airport into a 12 million passenger a year airport will create thousands of new jobs in the coming years, open up new direct air links and support inbound tourism to the region.
