Other Southern California fire evacuations on the rise

A Southern California wildfire that broke out Monday in Orange County’s Trabuco Canyon has grown to more than 8,500 acres overnight.

Until Tuesday morning, the Airport Fire forced the evacuation of some homes in the area.

CalFire reported there was a threat to structures. Firefighters were battling the fast-moving brush fire, which is at 0 percent containment.

The case is under investigation.

It is one of two large wildfires in Southern California. A fast-growing wildfire near San Bernardino more than quadrupled in size over the weekend, prompting officials to issue evacuation orders for more than 11,000 people.

The Southern California wildfire has burned 27 square miles and threatens about 35,000 homes and buildings.

Fire is held at 5%.
