Beyoncé says raising her 3 kids isn’t ‘easy’

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter said parenting her three children is “grounding and fulfilling,” but it doesn’t come without its challenges.

The artist and entrepreneur got candid about balancing family and her career in a rare interview with GQ. And despite the release of “Cowboy Carter” earlier this year, the recent “Renaissance” tour and new business ventures like her Cécred hair care brand and new whiskey SirDavis, family always comes first.

Knowles-Carter told the magazine that she organizes her work around her family’s schedule.

“Raising three children is not easy,” she told the publication. “The older they get, the more they become their own individuals with unique needs, hobbies and social lives.”

“My twins are God-sent,” she said, referring to her 7-year-old twins Rumi and Sir. “Parenting is constantly teaching you about yourself. It takes a lot of prayer and patience. I love it.”

Knowles-Carter has three children with her husband, Jay-Z: her twins and her 12-year-old daughter, Blue ivy.

Despite her busy schedule, the singer said her children “come with me wherever I go” – from her office to the studio to dance practice.

Initially, Beyoncé did not want Blue Ivy to perform on the tour

On the “Renaissance” tour, Blue Ivy joined her mother on stage, performing choreography to the songs “My Power” and “Black Parade”.

It’s no surprise, since Blue Ivy has been a consistent addition to her parents — from the 2017 Grammy Awards to the 2019 red carpet premiere of the “Lion King” remake.

After her stage debut at a May 2023 show in Paris, Knowles-Carter posted a tribute to her daughter on Instagram.

“My first born beautiful,” wrote the artist. “I am so proud and grateful to be your mother. You bring us so much joy my sweet angel.”

Knowles-Carter told GQ that initially, she didn’t want Blue Ivy to sing with her, despite knowing her daughter was an “artist.”

“It’s natural, but I didn’t want Blue on stage,” she said. “Blue wanted it for herself. She took it seriously and earned it. And most importantly, she had fun! We all watched her grow more and more every night in front of our eyes.”

Despite leaving her little girl on stage, Knowles-Carter said her main priority is making sure she gives her children a normal life.

“One thing I’ve worked extremely hard on is making sure my kids can have as much normality and privacy as possible, making sure my personal life isn’t turned into a brand,” she told GQ in the interview ample. “I made an extreme effort to stay true to my boundaries and protect myself and my family. No amount of money is worth my peace of mind.”
