Exeter Chiefs are on the verge of making the play-offs to cap off an incredible year for the club following last summer’s player turnover.

Chiefs need to win at Welford Road to stand a chance.

Rob Baxter’s side need a favor from Saracens of all clubs who face fourth-placed Sale Sharks at home. Sale must lose to allow the Chiefs to slip through, or third-placed Bath must get nothing from their home game against league leaders Northampton Saints and Exe could win with a bonus point.

The other game that could have an impact is Harlequins v Bristol Bears.

If Bristol win by a bonus point, Exeter need to win and win by a bonus point to finish above them as the Bears have a superior points difference.

If Harlequins win by a bonus point, then again Chiefs need to win by a bonus point and would finish above the London club thanks to having won one more league game this season.

It’s all pretty complicated, but essentially Exe need to win, most likely with a bonus point, to put themselves in the semi-final.
