Canadian stocks up at close; The S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.90% by Investing.com

Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, it gained 0.90%.

The best performers of the session on the were Dollarama Inc (TSX: ), which rose 8.18% or 10.25 points to trade at 135.53 at the close. Meanwhile, The first Majestic Silver Body. (TSX: ) added 7.50% or 0.49 points to end at 7.02 and Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX: ) was up 7.48% or 0.46 points to trade at 6.61 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Parex Resources Inc (TSX: ), which decreased 6.08% or 0.78 points to trade at 12.05 at the close. International Petroleum Corp (TSX: ) declined 2.24% or 0.38 points to 16.55 and Mattr Corp (TSX: ) declined 1.99% or 0.29 points to 14.30.

Advancers outnumbered decliners on the Toronto Stock Exchange 540 to 379, with 99 ending unchanged.

Shares of Parex Resources Inc (TSX: ) fell to 3-year lows; down 6.08% or 0.78 to 12.05.

Gold futures for December delivery were down 0.05%, or 1.20, at $2,541.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude for October delivery rose 2.33%, or 1.53, to $67.28 a barrel, while the November Brent crude contract rose 2.07% or 1.43, to 70.62 dollars per barrel.

CAD/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR was unchanged 0.33% to 0.67.

US dollar index futures rose 0.09% to 101.69.
