Met Gala fans ‘can’t figure out’ how Lizzo should be dressed

Some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Lizzo, were spotted at the Met Gala last night (May 6). Every year, fans look forward to seeing which celebrities will be in attendance and what they’ve decided to wear.

The annual event gets a different theme each year, with the 2024 ceremony being called: “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” As for the dress code, the stars were asked to come as something related to “The Garden of Time”.

Nicole Kidman, Cardi B, Tyla, Zendaya, Sabrina Carpenter, Kim Kardashian, Lana Del Ray, Lizzo and Ariana Grande were among those who graced the red carpet in various eye-catching outfits. Tyla wore a dress made of sand, Kim Kardashian squeezed into a skin-tight corset and fans of Lana Del Ray said the star looked like a “fairy”.

Most fans understood how most celebrities were dressed, or at least what they were supposed to be dressed in. But, there was one celebrity that left many people puzzled.

Lizzo was seen wearing a sheer brown dress covered in rose petals that opened at the bottom – like tree roots. She also wore a matching head piece that stuck out a few inches above her head – like tree branches.

The singer went on to confirm that her dress was meant to resemble a tree. The botanically inspired look was designed by Victor Weinsanto, which took up to 700 hours.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the fashion designer said: ‘The dress features these sprays of dried flowers, so I wanted to play with the beauty of a rose throughout its life cycle, using different tones and just mixing from my palettes “.

However, it seems the outfit wasn’t obvious enough for some fans. Many were left guessing what her outfit was supposed to be on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Arianaunext asked, “Does she know what a tree looks like?” Sharing a photo of a dog wearing a recovery cone, Kwesinas_ joked: “Lizzo’s inspiration for her #MetGala outfit.”

Hardtingz said, “She at least got it right.” Bey_riding said: “Tree where?!?!?!?” Manuelphrimpz added: “A tree? I liked the outfit, but the idea seems to miss the point.”
