More milestones achieved by Enfield students

Eastern Connecticut State UniversityWillimantic CT

  • The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Criminology and Social Work at Eastern Connecticut State University inducted students into three honor societies this spring 2024 semester. Induction ceremonies included the Alpha Kappa Delta sociology honor society on May 2, the social work honor Phi Alpha on May 9 and Eastern’s inaugural induction of the criminal justice honor society Alpha Phi Sigma on April 30. Among those honored was senior Victoria Davis. from Enfield, who is majoring in social work. Davis was inducted into the Phi Alpha honor society for social work.
  • The Department of Psychological Sciences at Eastern Connecticut State University held its annual Psi Chi honor society induction on April 26. Among those inducted was Collette Moreau of Enfield, a senior majoring in psychology who was inducted into the Psi Chi honor society and earned an honorable mention. mention for the Best Paper Award in Psychology for her paper entitled “Prosopagnosia: An Overview of Research, Treatments, and Advances.” Allyson Daleb of Enfield, a senior majoring in psychology, was recognized for high distinction. Psi Chi, the international honor society for psychology, is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. Psi Chi operates as a federation of chapters located at over 800 colleges and universities.
  • Eastern Connecticut State University’s College of Business held its annual honor society ceremony on April 17, 2024 in the Student Center’s Betty R. Tipton Hall. The event included inductions for Delta Mu Delta business honor society, Omicron Delta Epsilon economics honor society and Alpha Mu Alpha marketing honor society. Attendees included Enfield senior Sarah Haluch, who is majoring in business administration and was inducted into Alpha Mu Alpha and Delta Mu Delta.
  • Eastern Connecticut State University’s Honors Program recognized 16 graduates on May 11 for completing honors theses, the program’s core requirement. Among the graduate researchers is Allyson Daleb of Enfield, majoring in psychology. Daleb’s honors thesis is titled “Conspiracy Theory Beliefs, Cognitive Ability, and Political Party Identification as Predictors of False Memories: Filter Bubbles as a Contributing Factor.”

Regis CollegeWeston MA

  • Madison Desrosiers of Enfield graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Regis College during commencement exercises on May 11, 2024. Desrosiers was among more than 1,100 students who received degrees ranging from associate to doctorate degrees.

Russell Sage CollegeTroy NY

  • Sara Kennerson of Enfield, a student in Russell Sage College’s physical therapy program, has been inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest, largest and most selective honor society for all academic disciplines. Kennerson is one of 23 new members of Russell Sage. The college’s annual induction ceremony was held on 14 April 2024.

Southern New Hampshire UniversityManchester NH

  • Seven Enfield students were named to the 2024 Winter President’s List: Alyssa Dowding, Kayla Moore, Linsey Klich, Melandra Orgill, Christopher Latocki, Dylan Sherman and Hector Quero. Winter terms run from January to May. Full-time undergraduate students who have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting period are named to the President’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits in each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.
  • Rachael Poulin of Enfield was named to the Winter 2024 Dean’s List. Full-time undergraduate students who earned a minimum grade point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean’s List.

Westfield State UniversityWestfield MA

  • The Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MassCPAs) awarded Ian Riley of Enfield the CPA John W. Cromwell Jr. Memorial Scholarship through the 2024 Scholarship Program of the MassCPAs Educational Foundation. Riley was one of 51 students selected to receive a scholarship. The students were honored for their awards at MassCPAs annual member networking event, Connect 2024, on May 8.

Worcester Polytechnic InstituteWorcester MA

  • Three Enfield students completed their major qualifying projects, which are typically team-based and often focus on very specific issues or needs of an organization that has partnered with the university to sponsor the student’s work. Vivian Vacharakupt, Class of 2024 majoring in civil engineering, completed a project titled Design and Analysis of a New Recreation Center in Worcester. Abigail Barksdale, Class of 2024 majoring in actuarial mathematics, completed a project titled Interactions of per-occurrence and aggregate deductibles. Cameron Carlin, Class of 2024 majoring in chemical engineering, completed a project titled Lithium Nanocarriers for Pregnancy and Breastfeeding.
  • A pair of Enfield students recently completed intensive projects. Benjamin Penti, Class of 2025 majoring in mechanical engineering and robotics engineering, was part of a project titled Research into the Shifting Seasonality of Beekeeping. Pratham Patel, Class of 2025 majoring in architectural engineering, was part of a project titled Exploring the Evolution of Traditional Wood Crafts.
