Liverpool’s new coaching set-up explained as six depart with Arne Slot plan taking shape

It’s set to be a summer of big changes at Liverpool as several members of the club’s backroom staff follow Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp announced his departure at the start of the season, with the German taking charge of his final game on Sunday before Feyenoord coach Arne Slot replaced him in the dugout – a move confirmed by Slot himself on Friday.

When asked directly about the Liverpool job in Friday’s pre-match press conference, Slot replied: “I can confirm that I will become manager there next year.”

Preparations for his move to Anfield will be underway and that will include who will join him as part of his backroom staff. Klopp has confirmed that six members of his staff will leave with him in the summer.

Slot’s current assistant manager at Feyenoord, Sipke Hulshoff, looks set to join Klopp at Liverpool after stepping down from his role as Ronald Koeman’s assistant manager with the Dutch national team. Hulshoff currently does both jobs, but is set to focus solely on the Liverpool role when he joins Slot.

Negotiations for the assistant manager were said to be one of the reasons that delayed the Reds finalizing the appointment of a new manager. Hulsoft will now not work with the Netherlands during Euro 2024.
