Japan updates list of national security categories, Seven & has been changed to “core” by Reuters

TOKYO (Reuters) – Japanese retail giant Seven & i Holdings has been classified as “core” for national security, according to the latest update to the Finance Ministry’s list of security assessments released on Friday.

The regular rating update under the Foreign Trade and Trade Act (FEFTA) comes a week after Seven & rejected a $38.5 billion takeover bid from Canada’s Alimentation Couche-Tard.
