Walgreens agrees to pay $106.8 million to settle US prescription billing charges By Reuters

(Reuters) – Walgreens Boots Alliance (NASDAQ: ) has agreed to pay $106.8 million to settle charges it billed the U.S. government for prescriptions that were never filled, the Justice Department said on Friday .

The Justice Department said that from 2009 to 2020, Walgreens submitted false claims for payment to Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health care programs for prescriptions processed but never picked up.
