Armed robbery suspect charged after series of raids on Birmingham betting shop

A man has been charged over a series of armed robberies at Birmingham bookies and possession of a gun, knife and ammunition. Nolhan Amegnisse, was arrested on Thursday, May 16, following three robberies and an attempted robbery at betting shops in the city.

The 20-year-old was detained following an investigation by West Midlands Police officers. Amegnisse was also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a bladed article and possession of drugs with intent to supply.



He was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 17 May.

West Midlands Police said: “A man has been charged following a spate of armed robberies in Birmingham. Nolhan Amegnisse, 20, was arrested on Thursday, May 16, after an intensive operation by officers following a spate of robberies at gambling shops in Birmingham.

“He was charged with three counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery, as well as possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a bladed article and possession of drugs with intent to supply. He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 17.

“The investigation is part of Operation Target, our ongoing mission to tackle serious and organized crime in the West Midlands.”
