OUT and ABOUT with Seeker Chick Mai-Liis: Visit Cornwall Police Open House and Off the Wall – Cornwall Youth Multimedia Art Group Exhibition at Cline House

Wednesday 15th May was a busy evening as we saw these two exciting events in Cornwall and more.

First I stopped at the Cornwall Police Service Open House at the Crime Reduction and Community Partnerships office on Montreal Road. So many happy kids checking out the great services we have in our community and of course attending the great BBQ at the Cornwall Optimist Club. A great way to celebrate “National Police Week”

Next I stopped by the Cline House Gallery, located at 204 Second St. East, Cornwall to see the Off The Wall – Cornwall youth multimedia art group exhibition “Waste not/Want – Explorations in food culture. This is an after school program led by artist Sean George that engages youth in community, art and current issues. The project is generously supported by Cornwall & Area Social Development Council and Cline House. and I was also excited to experience the Zine Class Launch with zine “Bad Apples #2” – The Food Issue! This zine was written, drawn and edited by a very talented group of teenagers from Cornwall under the guidance of Stacey Case. For more information about the Cline House, visit: www.clinehousegallery.com

If you’re wondering what a Zine is, here’s a description from Wikipedia. “A zine (/ziːn/ ZEEN; short for magazine or fanzine) is a limited edition self-published work of original or appropriate text and images, usually reproduced by a photocopier. Zines are the product of either a single person or a very small group and are popularly photocopied into physical prints for circulation.
