Dad flies to Croatia to fix his teeth after a football accident

A father who remained sober after a football accident left him with discolored and chipped teeth has flown to Croatia to have them repaired. Andrew Beavis took the plunge after years of dissatisfaction with his teeth and was quoted £1,000 per tooth to have repaired in the UK.

“We got a quote for veneer in the UK about six years ago, but life took a different turn with our house being built,” said the 59-year-old. “Then my wife needed dental work and the costs here were astronomical.”

Andrew added: “One of my front teeth was discolored from a football accident many years ago and the other tooth had a significant chip. It bothered me for years.

“The damage occurred after an accidental collision with an opposing player which resulted in dislocated teeth, a small fracture of the jaw and 18 stitches in the lip. The orthodontic surgeon saved my tooth, but the discoloration gradually got worse.”

After years of being unhappy with his smile, Andrew, who runs a construction company, decided to address them in February, before he turns 60 this year. But after being quoted £1,000 per veneer at his dentist in the UK, Andrew took a friend’s advice to go abroad for his dental treatment.

After scans in the UK, he flew to Croatia and the transformation was completed in five days. “The adaptation process took time and I had to trust the professionals, but the results exceeded my expectations,” he said. “The veneers blend perfectly with my natural teeth and I finally have a smile I’m proud of.”

It had eight facets, bleaching and a full scale and polishing for £3,400. Andrew said: “It’s a fraction of the cost compared to UK prices.”

In addition to dental care, Andrew enjoyed visiting Croatia. From exploring Zagreb to savoring the local cuisine. “Zagreb was a delight,” he said. “The town’s charm and its range of affordable restaurants and bars made our stay truly memorable.”
