Registration for the next round of Louisiana’s fortified homes program will open Wednesday

The Louisiana Department of Insurance has announced that registration for the next round of grants for the Louisiana Fortified Homes Program will open at 8:00 a.m. CT on Wednesday, September 18th and close at 5:00 p.m. CT on Friday, September 20th.

Registration for this and future grant rounds will be done using a lottery system, rather than on a first-come, first-served basis as in previous rounds.

To enter the lottery, homeowners are required to register during the three-day period this week. Homeowners who tried to apply during a previous round of grants but were not selected will need to register for this round, LDI said.

Once the lottery registration period closes, LFHP will randomly select 300 participants from the pool of eligible registrants, and another 200 registrants will be placed on a waiting list for the same round. LFHP will send an email notification to applicants who are selected to participate.

This round of grants is limited to residents of coastal Louisiana and Lake Charles, Sulphur, and Westlake.

LDI has a list of eligibility and grant requirements on its website.
