Sheffield Utd boss Wilder explains the release of five players

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has explained that he will release five players as they return to the Championship.

Chris Basham, George Baldock, Oliver Norwood, Wes Foderingham and Max Lowe leave the club.

Wilder said: “Difficult decisions to make, but we have to make them and I have to make them as a manager.

“It was very important that we as a football club get it right, how we did it and the timing and that everyone had the opportunity to show their appreciation for the five players.

“Incredible memories with them, working with them, managing with them and what they have contributed to the club.

“Outstanding services but the club must move on. We will all reflect their positive contribution to the club in an important way.”
