Dole: Strong Fundamentals Despite Divestment of Progressive Products (NYSE:DOLE)

Deep Value Investing profile picture

Small value individual investor with a modest portfolio of private investments, divided approx. 50%-50% between stocks and call options. I have a B.Sc. in aeronautical engineering and over 6 years of experience as an engineering consultant in the aerospace sector. That last statement is in no way relevant to my investing style, but I thought I’d add it for self-indulgent purposes. I have a contrarian investment style, very risky and often deal with illiquid options. How unkillable? Well, you can land a Jumbo on the spread and still have take-off clearance. From time to time, I buy stocks, mostly to avoid being labeled as unworthy by my fellow investor friends, hence the 50%-50% allocation. My time frame tends to be between 3-24 months. I’m a practitioner (of the blue-collar kind), rather than someone who theorizes with no skin in the game. At the time of writing, I own either shares or options in all stocks that I rate as Strong Buys. I like stocks that have experienced a recent sell-off due to non-recurring events, especially when insiders buy shares at the new lower price. This is how I often screen thousands of stocks, mostly in the US, although I may hold stocks in banana republics. I use fundamental analysis to check the health of companies that go through my screening process, their leverage, and then compare their financial ratios to the sector and industry median and average. They also do professional background checks on every insider who bought stock after the recent sell-off. I use technical analysis to optimize the entry and exit points of my positions. I mainly use multi-colored lines for support and resistance levels on weekly charts. From time to time I draw trend lines, taken for granted, in multicolored patterns. Note: I tried to keep my presentation as real and authentic as possible. I don’t like empty suits, high-level BS, deep-level BS, unnecessary jargon, and self-indulgent third-person presentations with an air of superiority. Thanks for reading my introduction!
