Insurance company AIG names Keith Walsh chief financial officer Reuters

(Reuters) – Insurer American International Group (NYSE: ) has named industry veteran Keith Walsh as chief financial officer, effective Oct. 21 this year.

Walsh has more than two decades of financial leadership experience and was previously CFO of Marsh, a unit of Marsh McLennan (NYSE: ).

Previously, he worked as an equity research analyst at Citi for 14 years, covering the insurance sector.

Insurers benefited from a revival in policy spending despite rising premiums, and their investment income was fueled by a strong US equity market.

Walsh will succeed Sabra Purtill, who has served as AIG’s CFO since 2023. He will be based in New York and lead the commercial insurer’s global finance organization, the company said.
